Privacy Policy for MicIQ

Jamal Shah ("we", "us", or "our") built the MicIQ app ("the App") as a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App. By installing or using MicIQ, you agree to the terms described below.

1. Information We Collect

MicIQ does not require you to create an account, and we do not directly collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number.

We do not:

Require sign-up, login, or any user account
Collect your name, email, phone number, or any account details
Track your precise location
Upload your audio, recordings, or any of your files to our servers

However, MicIQ displays advertisements through Google AdMob and uses Google Firebase services (Analytics, Crashlytics, and Cloud Messaging). These SDKs collect certain device information automatically. See Sections 5 and 6 for details.

2. How the App Uses Your Microphone

MicIQ is a real-time microphone amplifier. To provide this service, the App needs access to your device's microphone.

All audio processing happens entirely on your device.
Microphone input is processed in real time and output to your speaker, wired headphones, or paired Bluetooth audio device.
No audio data is transmitted, uploaded, or shared with any third party.
Microphone access is active only while the App is in use and a foreground service notification is shown.

3. Voice Recordings

Recordings are saved as .wav files only on your device, in the App's private external storage: Android/data/com.miciq.mic_iq/files/recordings/
Recordings are never uploaded to any server.
You can play back or delete recordings at any time from within the App.
Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all stored recordings.

4. Permissions We Request

Advertising ID (AD_ID)	Used by Google AdMob to serve and measure advertisements

We do not request, access, or store contacts, precise location, camera, SMS, or other sensitive personal files.

5. Advertising and Third-Party Services

MicIQ uses Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner and full-screen ads). Google AdMob is a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC.

To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK may automatically collect and process:

Device or other identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID (AAID)
Approximate (coarse) location derived from IP address
Device and ad interaction information (for ad delivery, frequency capping, and fraud prevention)

This information is collected directly by Google and is used for advertising, measurement, and analytics purposes. It may be shared with Google as a third party. Google's handling of this data is governed by:

You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, at any time from your device: Settings → Google → Ads.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland, the App presents a consent request (via a Google-certified consent management platform) before serving personalized ads.

MicIQ also uses the Google Fonts library to render typography, which may download font files from fonts.gstatic.com on first launch.

6. Firebase Services (Analytics, Crash Reporting & Notifications)

MicIQ uses the following Google Firebase services, provided by Google LLC:

Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous, aggregated usage information such as which features are used (e.g. starting the amplifier, selecting a microphone style), session information, approximate (coarse) location derived from IP address, device model, operating system version, and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier. This helps us understand how the App is used so we can improve it. It does not collect your audio, recordings, or any personal details.
Firebase Crashlytics — if the App crashes, a crash report is sent to Google containing the technical error details (stack trace), device model, operating system version, and device state at the time of the crash. This helps us find and fix bugs. Crash reports do not contain your audio or recordings.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — used to deliver push notifications (for example, news about app updates or features). FCM assigns your device a pseudonymous registration token used solely for delivering notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings → Apps → MicIQ → Notifications.

Data collected by Firebase is processed by Google in accordance with the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Children's Privacy

MicIQ is not directed to children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App displays advertising, it is intended for a general audience. If you believe a child has provided information through the App's ad services, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Data Security

We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Recordings saved by the App are stored in the App's private external storage, accessible only by MicIQ on your device. Data collected by Google AdMob and Google Firebase is transmitted securely and is handled by Google in accordance with its own security and privacy practices.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Revoke microphone or Bluetooth permission from Settings → Apps → MicIQ → Permissions.
Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via Settings → Google → Ads.
Turn off push notifications at any time via Settings → Apps → MicIQ → Notifications.
Delete all stored recordings by clearing the App's data in Settings → Apps → MicIQ → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the App.
Request deletion of any data associated with you by contacting us at the email below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
